Spool Up: 137ft Gas Turbine Yacht

An AMS design for a 137 foot [42m] gas turbine-powered flybridge superyacht.

Features include a full-planing convex hull form, CODOG propulsion and fixed surface drives with variable pitch propellers. Built from aircraft composite materials, speed is in the 70-knot range.

CODOG [combined output diesel or gas-turbine] is a proven system used by the military as well as fast ferries. Through use of a combining gearbox, high power, yet lightweight, gas-turbine engines are put on-line for high speed cruising while small diesels are used for loitering and maneuvering.
