The Flagship 520 is a fast Gary Grant-designed sedan with more than a passing ability to enter successfully into a sportfishing tournament. The design focus on hydrodynamics results in exclusive use of foil shapes and flush mounting for all appendages. For example, the Kiekhaefer-actuated trim planes are match-fit to the hull contours for maximum control and minimum drag.

Construction engineering is matched to the 520s high end performance with an extensive molded FRP grid system to enhance the already substantial structural rigidity of convex hull surfaces.

Speed is a respectable 29-knot cruise and 39-knot top with standard twin 750-hp [560kW] Detroit diesels.

The 520 is a highly maneuverable craft that produces a driving feel more like a jet-ski than a 40,000-lb [18000-kg] yacht.
