74ft Tournament Sportfish

This new AMS design for a 74-foot [22.6m] has a 19.75-foot [6m] beam and is powered by twin 2000 bhp [1490-kw] 16 cylinder diesels giving a speed capability well above 50-knots. The hull has an aggressive 15-degree deadrise at the transom for smoothing out the seas and straight-line tracking while running at near freeway traffic speeds.

Twin steps strategically located in the hull bottom provide higher speed, make the boat less sensitive to longitudinal trim changes and provide increased wave impact damping. And as the outboard 1/3 of the steps are angled forward, slow speed maneuvering and backing are similar to that of a a non-stepped bottom. This hull is based on the extremely-successful Tribute 67 Sportfish.

True to the tournament style there are no portlights, no forward deck rails, an open flying bridge helm station and a generous fishing cockpit. This is a very purposeful craft: go fast and catch a hell-of-a-lot of fish.

Construction is of cored composite in female molds using the latest resin infusion lamination technology: providing a light, strong and extremely rigid assembly. Even with the large propulsors, the displacement is right in at 70,000 lbs [31,750 kg] with a half load. Duration at 40-knots continuous is 14 hours, covering 560 nautical miles.

Several interior arrangements are available including the saloon and galley on the main deck, the owner's suite privately located below the galley, crew and guest cabins forward. Or a more unique layout with the crew forward of the galley on the main deck, two guest cabins forward and the owner's suite below the galley. All arrangements have a handy crew access port side door, for minimal disturbance to the owner's party as the crew performs their duties.

From this tight shot (above) it is quite apparent that the 140-sqft cockpit is all business [plus an additional 28-sqft on the mezzanine deck]. Every desirable feature has been incorporated for successful boating of fish including a custom tower, [2] 40-foot outriggers, [2] large freezers, custom tackle storage, live bait well, sink & cutting board, [13] flush rod holders, [7] flybridge rod holders, fresh & sea water washdowns, transom tuna door and a custom fighting chair. ↑Top
